1. Locate the highest fetal heart intensity by either the a) Pinard stethoscope or b) An ultrasound transducer (Apply ultrasound gel on the transducer and using the transducer locate the site of the highest fetal heart intensity on the abdomen. Then remove the transducer and completely RUB OFF the gel from the abdomen).
2. Remove the backing paper on the Transpatch to reveal the adhesive side.
3. Apply the Transpatch FLAT* at the same point on the abdomen – the site of the highest fetal heart intensity – adhesive side down to hold the patch firmly into place.
4. Slide the transducer underneath the centre of the Transpatch which is a non-adhesive part of the patch.
5. The transducer will now be held securely in to place by the Transpatch.
6. At the end of the procedure, remove the Transpatch by peeling it off the abdomen and then discard.
* For the Transpatch to work successfully it is important that the adhesive side is applied FLAT against the abdomen.
